I got this half-opened, previously used at least once, if not twice, box from China.
Inside this box are treats.
These treats will take a stock Polaroid SX-70 Sonar camera and turn it into something modern and flexible, that can withstand film manufacturing instability while maintaining aesthetics and adding some hackeresque touches.
So the treats are as follows:
- 3 distinct sets of non stapled, double sided printed instructions.
- Replacement bottom housing that includes integrated battery and a side lit frame counter.
- One black rectangle sticker to be optionally used to cover the stock branding and several knock off Polaroid stickers.
- Clear polycarbonate replacement housing for the Autofocus module. Stunning, clearly.
- A new PCB with bluetooth connectivity, improved metering, and ability to shoot iType, 600, and SX-70 films.
- Metering filter.
- Remote control accessory in SLA printed clear resin.
- A gift.
I started off reading the instructions for the Mercury PCB. It was all instructions on how to connect to the Bluetooth and zero instructions for actual PCB installation. Next was the instructions for the Power Kit S. Again, no actual installation instructions, just usage directions. And finally the Mercury Controller instructions were fine considering no installation is needed beyond inserting into the cartridge style slot on top of the camera. This bodes well, let's see what the website has.
I wanted to start with the clear shell for the sonar housing, this seemed low risk, high reward. Here are the video instructions, available as long as that Shopify customer keeps paying fees for their site.
